The month of March is jam-packed full of exciting workshops and demonstrations for the Manukau youth as the event ‘Celebrate Pasefika’ kicks off!

‘Celebrate Pasifika’ sees the council’s Arts and Libraries teams hosting a range of free activities, in conjunction with other major Pacific events including, Pollywood 82010 – Pacific Island short films, and the annual Pasifika Festival.

Young Artists can participate in several workshops that take a journal form ‘Traditional to Modern’ art forms. Workshops include, Graffiti Art demos, Tivaevae demonstrations, Dance classes, and a ‘Exercise your Mind, Exercise your Body’ workshop!

Former bro’Town Artist and Director, Ali Cowley is participating in ‘Celebrate Pasefika. He’s holding two art workshops on the 3rd and 5th of March.

"I am looking forward to running workshops for The Pasefika Arts Festival with Manukau Libraries.I have planned a lot of fun activities for the youth and Iam sure will see a lot of promising young artists or animators emerging".

28 per cent of Manukau’s 330,000 population are Pacific Islanders. So it is fitting that Pacific talent from across the city will be showcased throughout March.
