We are thrilled to announce that bro’Town’s very own Oscar Kightley was a New Zealand New Year Honours recipient!

Oscar has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to television and theatre during the past 15 years.

The honour recognises Oscar’s work as a writer/performer on bro’Town, as well as his many other accomplishments - which include his comedy work with the Naked Samaons theatre group, and co-writing and starring in the box office hit Sione’s Wedding.

“It’s a pretty big honour,” said Oscar.

“It does make all the hard work worthwhile, but it sort of just makes you want to work harder. I’m totally bowled over by it but I’m not taking it as a sign of having achieved anything but more a sign that you are on a good path and just to keep going and get better, really.”

Oscar and the bro’Town crew are currently hard at work on bro’Town Series 5, which is set to screen on New Zealand’s TV3 later this year.
